Secretary Raymond A. Skinner Launches DHCD Radio Show

CROWNSVILLE, MD – The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has announced the premiere of its “Putting Maryland Neighborhoods First” radio show hosted by Secretary Raymond A. Skinner and Wiley Hall. The half hour program will tackle housing related topics of interest to Maryland residents and communities such as affordable rental housing, how to buy a home, how to make your home more energy efficient, state resources to help community businesses and what President Obama’s housing plan means for homeowners.

“This show gives us the opportunity to speak directly to homeowners, renters, neighborhood groups and others who have an interest and stake in housing and community development issues here in Maryland,” said Secretary Skinner. “There are numerous State and community resources that can help people especially in this tough economy, and this allows us to inform and educate more people on the services and programs that can help them through this challenging time.”

The program’s inaugural show will highlight the foreclosure problem in Maryland, what the State has done to combat the problem and what resources are available to homeowners challenged with foreclosure. Guests include Secretary Thomas Perez of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, who will discuss fraud and how Maryland helped to take the lead in preventing it, and Phillip Robinson, Executive Director of Civil Justice, Inc., who will discuss counseling options for homeowners and the services provided by a network of pro-bono attorneys.

The program will air once a week in the Baltimore and Washington, DC markets until June 30 on the following days/times and stations:

BALTIMORE

Saturdays from 8:00 - 8:30 AM

WOLB-FM – 1010 AM
