Department Owned Properties For Sale
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development owns single family
properties that may be purchased by homebuyers, non-profit organizations and public
The department’s REO portfolio properties are listed and sold through two contract
ROC Realty or Long & Foster. These properties
are being offered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, disability, marital
status, familial status, sexual orientation or national origin.
DHCD offers two special programs related to the sale of its REO properties:
First Look Maryland
First Look Maryland is a special invitation
to non-profit organizations, public housing authorities and community partners to
preview the department’s REO portfolio properties.
For the first 15 days a new DHCD single family property is listed by ROC Realty
or Long & Foster, favorable pricing and financing will be offered to qualified buyers.
After that time, the property will become available to the general public.
Exclusive Buyer Incentives
Prospective buyers may finance the purchase of a DHCD home listed by ROC Realty
and Long & Foster through the
Maryland Mortgage Program. Qualified borrowers with credit approval can
- 1% interest rate (APR 1.638%)*
- Downpayment and closing cost assistance**
* Buyers should know that the interest rates are subject to change before the borrower
submits an application and/or locks in the interest rate.
** Borrowers who qualify for a
Maryland Mortgage Program loan will receive $5,000 in assistance through
Downpayment Settlement Expense Loan Program (DSELP). Borrowers whose employers
participate in the Partner Match program or whose home purchase is covered by Community
Partners Incentive Program (CPIP) may then qualify for additional assistance. These
funds may be combined with downpayment assistance through other programs or jurisdictions.
*** DHCD’s current procedure is to monitor, for a period of one year from the date
of sale of a property by the department, any subsequent disposition of such property.
